Rate limits
How many requests your organization can make each minute, and how to pace by the headers.
| Requests | Per minute, across all your keys |
|---|---|
| Domains and records | 40 |
| Usage and earnings | 30 |
The two never draw on each other, so a report never slows a DNS change. Changing a record counts as
more than one request; GET /me and requests refused before they run, such as missing_permission,
don't count. Each key can also send at most 60 requests a minute of any kind.
A request that counts gets its minute back in these headers:
| Header | Value |
|---|---|
RateLimit-Limit | Requests allowed in the minute |
RateLimit-Remaining | Requests left in the minute |
RateLimit-Reset | Seconds until the minute starts over |
Over a limit, the answer is 429 rate_limited with a Retry-After header. Wait that many seconds,
then send the request again.
